Emoore Saylavee: I went to Ojai, CA on a whim to see the tree J. Krishnamurti got enlightened under.  I was in this natural food store in Ojai and I saw this girl working behind the deli counter. I said, "Man, that's gonna be my next girlfriend, without a doubt." I could just feel it. I ended up ordering some food from her. She hooked me up and gave it to me really cheap. She was nice. She liked my guitar. I didn't say anything really. I wasn't going to be creepy.

So, it started raining in the town and I had nowhere to stay. I was like, I'm gonna go up to Oakland. I was walking up to the main road out of town and I was bummed. I was thinking about that girl. I was thinking, that's supposed to be my girlfriend. But what are you gonna do? Go back there and hang around the natural food store cause you think this girl is hot?

So I get out to the main road and I have my thumb out for a good minute. It can take days to catch a ride sometimes. I was out there for like half an hour and this Camaro pulls over and there's this young, cute, girl in it. And I'm like, you gotta be fucking kidding me! It was the girl from the natural food store. She picked me up hitchhiking and she's still my girlfriend. Nova is her name.

It took a little bit, because she had a boyfriend at the time, so I had to write a few emails, and come back to see her. Then we ended up traveling together in her car. It had always been her dream to travel on a school bus. Live out of it. She was looking for a school bus the whole time.

We ended up in New York. We ditched her car and were riding freight. We got in trouble for hopping trains. On the way to court a week later, we had to go down these back roads and there was this little bus at a gas station. It was badass. She ended up buying the bus for really cheap. We took it across the country and played outside Vans Warped Tour to make money to keep going.

Everyone's kind of looking for love or someone or something out here. You hitchhike and travel and you're almost hopeless sometimes, but I met this pretty, dope, girl, hitchhiking, and she's been like the crown jewel of the road for me.
